Adult (15+) Belt Requirements and Technique List:

Blue Belt Requirements: Minimum of 12 months of active continuous membership, minimum of 100 hours in class (including private lessons, seminars, workshops, etc.), minimum of 20 hours of sparring/rolling, proficient at “White to Blue Belt” techniques and requirements, must pass approved exam by PSBJJA certified Black Belt Instructor.

Purple Belt Requirements: Minimum of 24 months at blue belt prior to testing for purple belt, minimum of 400 hours in class, minimum of 100 hours of sparring/rolling, proficient at “Blue to Purple” techniques and requirements, must perform self-defense requirements set by PSBJJA, must pass an association approved exam by a PSBJJA certified Black Belt Instructor.

Brown Belt Requirements: Minimum of 24 months at purple belt prior to testing for brown, 400 hours in class, 100 hours sparring, confirmed proficiency of White to Blue and Blue to Purple techniques, must demonstrate a higher level of technique with a strong emphasis on mount, must perform self-defense requirements set by PSBJJA, must pass an approved PSBJJA exam given by Master Pedro Sauer or a PSBJJA certified 3rd degree Black Belt Instructor.

Black Belt Requirements: Minimum of 24 months at brown belt, belts can only be given by 3rd degree Black Belt or higher, must display a high level of proficiency and understanding of the curriculum and self defense techniques, a readiness review must be submitted to the Board of Directors prior to the test and the student must have the approval of the board to test for the black belt.  The black belt exam can only be given by Master Pedro Sauer or an approved Black Belt with active and appropriate status.
