Alicia began her Yoga and mindfulness practice in 1998 and started teaching in 2004. She has studied with some of the most influential Yoga and Meditation teachers from around the world including Tim Miller, Steve Armstrong, David Swenson, Sharath, Thích Nhất Hạnh, Richard Freeman, Noah Williams and many more. Her continued desire to learn took her to India in 2008 to attend the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore; her travels and education spread throughout SE Asia to broaden her knowledge of Yoga, Vipassana Meditation, Intentional Breathing, Shiatsu and Buddhist studies.
Alicia’s Yoga method is rooted in the Ashtanga Vinyasa 8 fold path as taught by the late Sri K. Pattabji Jois. Her deep interest in a variety of traditions has cultivated her distinctive style and practice she shares today. Her continued curiosity regarding the mind-body connection led her to explore Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and in 2019 she earned her blue belt. Alicia currently studies Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Charlottesville, and is continually inspired by the blending of the fighting arts with her yoga practice.
Alicia creates a yoga experience that is accessible for all skill levels, body types, and intentions. The class creates a space for practitioners to explore breathing, mobility, strength building and mindfulness. While flexibility of the body is not required, flexibility of the mind will allow each participant to grow in their own practice and unlock the unlimited possibilities of what the body can achieve.
